Surrey Arts Festival
Over the very lazy weekend I just had, I went for a stroll around Hampton Court, an area I spend a lot of time in, and came across this: the Surrey Arts trail. All throughout Surrey and in each of it's little, picturesque towns are these gorgeous open studios for budding and small-time individual artists you can walk around and discover!
I focused mainly on the Moseley one as that was around where I was that day, and found some beautiful pieces created by artists!
The concept is amazing, especially for the artists. Most of the studios are in their home so you just walk around and discover them yourself; I had some amazing conversations with them as well about their art and where the inspiration is from as well as the processes used.
Susan has been knitting for years on her iconic knitting machine; she creates individual pieces in a range of styles.
Linda uses enamel and other forms of metalwork to create unique and beautiful pieces of jewellery! My favourites were the unicorn pins and the rabbit necklace (top right of pic) as it looks similar to a tattoo I have!
Liz does just about anything artistic you can think of- adorning the walls of her displays were bright watercolours, unique ceramics with inspiration from all over the world and beautiful textured mixed media pieces.
Geoff specialises in beautiful, one-off pieces of ceramics, all handmade and hand-decorated by him in his studio. He experiments with just about every form of pottery and ceramics there is!
This art trail in particular is open next weekend too, from 11-5pm. More info here
There are other amazing, inspiring artists all throughout the county up until the 16th June 2019, too.
